After entertaining audiences around the country with the Miss Pinup Australia competition, Steve Bernhard has finally finished — as a winner.
The Narellan Vale competitor in the Mr Pinup category walked away with the crown after Sunday’s national grand final event in Melbourne, and he couldn’t be prouder of his achievements.
‘‘It was awesome,’’ he told the Advertiser.
‘‘I did everything that I needed to in the competition, and more, performing in all the state heats.
‘‘It was a lot more fun in the grand final.’’
Mr Bernhard, who competes as Mr Phoenix Divine, entertained the Victorian crowd with a humorous routine that had them ‘‘crying with laughter’’.
He said he was far less nervous in the national final than he had been in the heats, and has noticed his self-growth throughout the year.
‘‘To be honest, the highlight for me is actually that I’ve found I do love myself, I like myself, which is something that I couldn’t say before,’’ he said.
‘‘I have a lot more self-respect — it’s phenomenal, [the Miss Pinup competition] is a journey of self-growth.’’
Fellow Macarthur local Danielle Mumford, who competes as Miss Rouge Pearl, was named the first runner-up as the overall Miss Pinup Australia for 2015, and will, like Mr Bernhard, continue to be involved with the competition for the next year and beyond.
