Southern Cotton have won the prestigious Telstra NSW Regional Business Award.
They were recognised for their contribution to the establishment of the cotton industry in theMurrumbidgee.General manager Kate O’Callaghan said the support of theirdirectors, team andthe local growers – who together had shown an ongoing commitment to becoming the best gin in Australia – was the reason they had been successful.

“In just four years, we have built the Southern Cotton business from the ground up,” Ms O’Callaghansaid. “The Telstra award is such an honour.We are proud to continue our support of the growing cotton industry.”
Chairman Scott Hogan said it was an honour to accept the award.
“Congratulations to the other finalists in the category – Highlands Drive Safe, RTC Group Holdings Pty Ltd andSouthern Cross Resorts – on your incredible and diverse achievements,” Mr Hogan said.
“We are very proud tohave been selected alongside you and wish you every success in your future endeavours.”

The win was announced at a gala event in Sydney, and recognised the efforts of the whole Southern Cotton team whohad dedicated the last four years to transforming a Whitton paddock into a $26 million operation through thedevelopment of the cotton ginning business.
Southern Cotton has operatedfor just three seasons andhasprocessed more than 500,000 bales.
The company employs40-plus seasonal workers and 11 full-time staff.
