Josh Bull came back from the 2015 Northern Territory Karting Titles with a nice haul.NARACOORTE”S Josh Bull battled well above his age to come away with a couple of shields from the 2015 Northern Territory Karting Titles last week.
The 14-year-old travelled with the Bullsroar Karting team to Alice Springs to compete in the competition, which consisted of about 170 karts from SA, WA, NT and Queensland.
Josh, who has been dominating the junior competition for the last three years at the event, was competing in his first title in the senior classes of KT Lights and KT Mediums against drivers who were up to 20 years his senior, and who boasted a lot more experience.
Both categories had big fields of contenders, with the weekend consisting of eight individual heats with the worst results dropped for the weekend.
Josh looked after most of his own maintenance for the weekend, deciding on his own kart set-up, completing most of his own changes to the karts and ensuring they were ready to go for all heats.
At the end of the competition Josh came away with NT2, or second place in the KT Light class, where he was just one point behind the overall winner. In the KT Medium class Josh finished equal second but dropped to third on a count back.
Such results against much older and more experienced competition are a testament to Josh’s skills and attitude.
Alice Springs has been good to the young driver over the years, with three previous title plates while competing in juniors. In 2011 he took out NT3 while in 2013 he grabbed both NT3 as well as AUS3 in the same year.
Josh would like to thank his sponsors Bull Bros Earthmoving, Holcim Concrete, Lightning Karts, Ncte Tyrepower, Ncte Signs, Cummins, Cavpower and Barrett Petroleum. He would also like to thank all his grandparents for following him around the country helping with kart maintenance and cleaning, while he competes in what is truly a family sport.
Josh’s next outing is to Weipa in far north Queensland for the Queensland titles. The last time he was there was in 2013, where the Bullsroar Karting team managed to return with two QLD1 plates and a QLD3 plate. All involved are hoping this trip will be just as memorable.
